Hype over Hemp – Is this the Ingredient of Our Generation?

Today we’re talking about hemp, which is entirely separate to the well-known hallucinogenic characteristics of its sister plant. How? It’s different in its function, cultivation, and application. Hemp, beyond just skincare (which I’ll get to!) can be used in 25,000 different ways. 25 thousand.

We’re talking healthy dietary supplements, skin products, clothing, and accessories. And likely, you’re passing by hemp products every day in grocery stores and local businesses. Even more importantly? Hemp can produce critical resources such as food (!), rope, clothing, paper, and housing material.

Let’s get into the good stuff. Skincare. Hemp seed oil, aka the “most balanced seed oil.” One of the most well-rounded and friendliest oils for the skin, it’s proven to be a safe and effective treatment for acne, eczema, and psoriasis. We’re talking about a unique collaboration of healthy fats, antioxidants and antibacterial properties that you can’t find in many other places.

What are healthy fats (shouldn’t I stay away from fats??) Our skin craves an optimum essential fatty acids ratio – they are the building blocks of healthy cells. Hemp seed oil’s fatty acids ratio and lipid content matches that of our own skin, making it wonderful for true and balanced nourishment. The optimum ratio, as the scientific studies show (those studies that we should pay attention to), is 3:1 of omega 6 to omega 3. And as you might have guessed, no other plant source contains this perfect ratio other than…hemp seed oil.

What’s important about this silly ratio anyways? Beyond my face? Our diets are unbalanced, at a ratio of 10:1, leading to inflammatory skin conditions like acne. Thus, this is why we need hemp seed oil to come to the rescue! Omegas 6 and 3 provide healing support, moisturising, and anti-inflammatory support, in addition to allowing the skin to absorb antioxidants. It also has all 21 amino acids, aka the building blocks of proteins. Say hello to collagen, elastin, and firm skin. Is there anything that hemp seed oil can’t do?? Just wait.

Want to hear something amazing? Hemp seed oil is also a natural UV protectant. It has shown absorbance in UVB and UVC ranges and has shown use as a low broad band spectrum UV protectant. Because hemp seed oil is naturally amazing, it’s capable of developing its own UVR protection—don’t you wish we could do that? If only we could produce our own sunscreen every day.

Are you sold yet? Because I think you should be. I definitely am!! Herbs + Heart’s Forest Nourish is a nourishing hand and body lotion containing healing hemp seed, blended with wild lavender water to dramatically improve texture and restore suppleness to the skin. Rich mango and babassu butters ensure deep conditioning, whilst ginseng not only invigorates cellular stimulation, but also contains essential phytonutrients to help tone and nourish the skin.

All in all? Hemp seed oil is one of those oils that is way more amazing than we thought an oil could ever be.
